MULTIDIMENSIONAL NON-EUCLIDEAN KEY OF INNERSIGHT

I read an interesting scifi series a long while back, where passwords and access keys were actually mentally visualized sequences of symbols, numbers and shapes. The example in question, of which this fractal is inspired, involves a nearly infinite-sided die (dice) whose sides expand/zoom depending on if one is focusing on them. The unlock sequence involves rotating the sphere and accessing the symbols in the correct order. I thought it was pretty cool at the time and it remains one of my formative memories of scifi reading.
