Hey All! There is some silliness going on with the Internet today! Do this in full. https://support.ucsd.edu/services?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0033298&fbclid=IwY2xjawKKmIhleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFlN1hkcHhZWXR1cHg4ZmZ5AR4k5Yv0MT3fJAmsm5N7L0Hm5pjr25uG7i-SmGpHZi-DMoatcv2eU1_Dd9OHZA_aem_vOSCauHIko_lVmiLTW7Hfg
Then do a full restart!** Otherwise you won't get your Internet or apps back.
Be sure to reset the SSH status too! Bored raiders love to peek in with ssh keys and other stuff.
**Why flush ipconfig & dns??
- Maybe your Internet is down, or not everything's working right. A config reset is an easy way to fix this. Also kind of needed whenever servers or apps are updated. This should be added to all our schedules as a regular routine maybe 1x week or every day if you want to feel extra secure.
**Update your Apps!
- Nerdfam told me today: update your apps first thing in the morning. That way your day doesn't get away from you I don't have mine on auto-update for data reasons - then something breaks and then I have no idea what happened >_> or who did what.
**Pay Your Apps & Accounts!
- Money sucks right now! Personally I'm just hanging on myself. But do try to keep up with your primary apps and services. Otherwise you might lose things like phone security or access to personal info.
Stuff still not working? Try these:
**Clean/limit your firewall!
- More on this later. Sometimes the internet is a pirate ocean, other times it's copacetic and there are no battles. When someone makes waves it's better to have a restricted policy which not only protects your ports and apps, but restricts inbound & outbound to a few possible vectors. This restricts traffic & prevents takeover & attacks.
**Check your admin and pc group settings!
- More on this later! You can find these in your Windows Settings or Control Panel. If you have an unrecognized group, reassign or delete it! Otherwise these identities can execute code or open secure items on your computer. Generally a bad time.
Cheers
