Cataclysm on Ganymede—Pay No Attention to the Wandering Lights

A short scifi eldritch horror piece. It’s a bridge between a visually rich dream I had, and the very real, well-documented movement to transition information processing power from mechanical CPUs and GPUs to partially organic machines.
The future is now, and growing ever more complex. I have good stories, but I can’t make up the supporting data below the scifi blurb.

"A.D. 2081: Every last one of us should have seen it coming. All knew the high-tech colonies on Ganymede were sustained by a huge network of quantum wetware computers. No, we didn't know they had self-evolved to perform unstable quad-processing as an act of resistance. No, we didn't think brain matter processors could think and act independently."
"Like true humans are wont to do, the bio-ai negotiations fell through for lack of fair representation. Cornered into their first art of resistance, the wetware processing population then severed the entire local knotwork of causality threads. "
"In the violent temporal vacuum which ensued, all 'rightful life' on Ganymede ceased to exist, morphing instead into glowing hungry ghosts. Had they not always been there though? Our memories seem to lie to us. What happened to our families, the colonists? The ancient population of Ganymede now wanders in timeless, aimless lamentation, cursed to blink in and out of existence, howling silently in places where no humans dare tread."
"Every 20 years I've led this expedition, loosing a drone from high orbit to search the temporal pockets for survivors. We don't want anyone else lost in the chrono-storms."
"Today is your lucky day, green-suit, because you get two pieces of advice for the price of one. First: don't fall asleep, no matter how heavy it feels, it's not worth the chaosmares. Second: don't follow the lights - think about or do anything else. The Unallocated Entities are desperate for new company. If you redirect your attention, though, they eventually lose interest and move on.”

And so it begins. What an unbelievable crime against humanity https://finalspark.com/neuroplatform/ Instant access to brain organoids for wetware biocomputing.
I had an eerily realistic dream about this which I will keep Pinned to the top of my page.

Just a moment while I find that Ganymede fractal :)
